Part of dealing with my mental health, which I have posts and discuss about in my Mental Health section, came with finding new outlets to express myself and new coping mechanisms. One way I started to manage my mental health was by starting to read books. Poem books, motivational books, nonfiction books, etc. Some of the best books I have read have been motivational books. Here is a list of some motivational books I’ve finished and that I am currently reading.
Motivational Books To Read
- The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck
- You are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life
- Calm The F*ck Down
- The Gifts of Imperfection: Let Go of Who You Think You’re Supposed to Be and Embrace Who You Are
- The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business
“Forgiveness is about putting your desire to feel good before your desire to be right” – Jen SinceroSincero, J. (2013). You are a badass: How to stop doubting your greatness and start living an awesome life. Philadelphia: Running Press.
One Of My Favorites
One of my favorite motivational books that I’ve read so far is You Are A Badass by Jen Sincero. What I love about this book is Sincero actually gets you thinking and reflecting on yourself. She also challenges you to take action and make changes in areas of your life where you aren’t happy. Personally, Jen Sincero got me to look at things from a different perspective and that was something I really needed which is why I would highly recommend this book to others.
Poetry Books To Read
A lot of the poetry books I read are by Rupi Kaur. Her poem books are as relatable as they get. If you’re looking for good short reads where you can pick up and sit down your book whenever you feel like it, these books are a great option. A bonus for these books is that they make and allow you to feel emotions and let them out. Even during hard times. The list of poetry books below that I recommend has several books by Rupi Kaur along with a few other poets.
- Pillow Thoughts
- The Art Of Not Falling Apart
- Empty Bottles Full of Stories
- I Hope You Stay
- Milk and Honey
- The Sun and Her Flowers
